According to Daily Trust, the Jama'atu AhlisSunna Lidda'awati Waljahad group, infamously known as Boko Haram has launched a new frontier in their multifaceted attack points: social media, with Twitter becoming their latest platform for winning people over to their side.
If the reports are to be believed, Alurwa Alwuthqa is the mouthpiece of the group, and he announced the sect's capture of Monguno and shared photos of child soldiers being trained by the sect.
The account began tweeting on January 18th (first message being something about Baga) and has amassed over 3,000 followers already.
The account also has a video interview with Abu Mus'ab Albarnawi, who says he is the spokesman of the group. The video had the faces of both interviewer and interviewee blurred out.
Nigeria's Defence HQ is yet to comment on this.
